Take Care of Your Jaw When Wearing a Mask
Wearing a mask for several hours a day is new to most people, other than those who have normally worn one based on their occupation. Getting used to wearing a mask can increase muscle tension. This may lead clenching your teeth and tightening your jaw in an effort to keep your mask in place.
Follow these tips to help prevent these issues:
- Be aware of your jaw to ensure that you keep it relaxed and not tense
- Don’t push your jaw forward in an effort to help keep your mask on
- Avoid hard, crunchy, and chewy foods if your jaw hurts
- Ice your jaw as needed in 10-minute intervals
You can also talk to your dentist or doctor about any concerns you may have.
Most importantly, stay safe!
